Shakira is about to drop new music soon, so she posted an Instagram video to promote her song wearing just a mermaid tail.

Move over Ariel, a new mermaid, is lighting up social media this summer. Shakira shared a video of herself dressed as a (very realistic looking!) mermaid to promote her new song, and the Internet is obsessed.
In the video, the 46-year-old singer is topless, bound up in rope as she sways gently back and forth with a full mermaid tail. The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer rocks pink hair, and her super strong abs are on full display. “@manuelturizo 🧜♀️ COPA VACIA 29 JUNIO 8:00 PM EST,” Shakira captioned the post, which teases her new song.
People *loved* how strong and stunning Shakira looked in the post, and let her know in the comments section. “SIRENA!!!!” or siren, commented one person in Spanish. Others reached for the flame emojis, which definitely apply here.
Shakira looks so epic, and I can’t wait for the song, but can we linger on those super-strong abs for a moment? If you’re wondering what Shakira does to keep her core so sculpted, Women’s Health has the answers.
First of all, Shakira makes sure to stick to a schedule so that when things get crazy, as I imagine they do for an international pop star, she has a routine in place. Celeb trainer Anna Kaiser, who trained Shakira for years, told E! News in 2017 that they used to train together five days a week. (BTW, Kaiser typically does dance cardio with her clients in her studio, Anna Kaiser Studios). The pair incorporated a heart rate monitor to make sure Shakira’s stamina is up to par for her energetic performances.
“I want to make sure that she is improving her endurance so that she can go into a two-hour show and also has the strength and stamina to make it through a five-month tour,” Kaiser told E! News. “It’s about making sure she gets a little bit of everything.”

The pair also worked on core and booty strengthening exercises like side squats:
…And wall squats, where Kaiser would have Shakira squat down a wall while squeezing a medicine ball between her legs and holding a weight in each hand. This takes some serious physical (and mental!) strength.
These days, Shakira also loves to and wakeboard, which definitely engages the core and legs. Plus, it helps improve balance.
Obviously, with all of this training, Shakira has to stay properly fueled. The singer focuses on eating a balanced diet and isn’t afraid to dive into her favorites, including pork chops, her trainer told E!.
Breakfast for Shakira can be eggs or avocado with olive oil, tomato, sea salt, and a smoothie with berries and plant protein. Lunch can be fish and fresh veggies, and a salad with an emphasis on incorporating all colors of the rainbow, Kaiser told E!, per Prevention.
Kaiser also said she encourages Shakira to snack in the afternoon. Since the singer is busy, sometimes her after-lunch snack is a soup with artichokes, leeks, eggplants, or carrots and ginger. Cucumbers with lemon and salt are another one of the singer’s favorites. Back in 2017, the singer liked to opt for fish and veggies for dinner, according to Kaiser.
