Serena Williams just posted a video of her fave workout to do while pregnant on Instagram and YouTube, and she is super-strong.
- The workout focuses on strength training and Sererna says she loves walking for cardio, too.
- The tennis GOAT also works on eating healthy ingredients, and enjoys a mostly plant-based diet.
ICYMI, Serena Williams is expecting her second child, and I don’t know how it’s possible, but she is even stronger and more stunning than ever before during this pregnancy. Now, she’s sharing her secrets on staying strong while pregnant—and honestly, it’s a gift from above.
The tennis GOAT dropped a video clip on Instagram (pulled from a longer YouTube video) that breaks down her exact pregnancy workout so other expectant moms, and non-pregnant people, can try it at home. “I wanted to show you all how I’m staying fit while being pregnant at the same time,” she says, before adding that it’s a “very difficult thing to do.”
People cheered her on in the comments. “You look sooo great and beautiful,” one person wrote. “I am not even pregnant but I swear Serena is more flexible than me 🥺,” another commented.
Serena shared that she starts with a hip-opening warmup. “When you’re pregnant, your hips can be really tight—at least, my hips are really tight,” she says, before going into a modified pigeon pose. “I do this about 10 times, just to warm it up,” she continues.
Serena did three hip openers overall before getting into the bulk of her workout, which kicked off with some elliptical work. “I usually do a level three and work my way up,” she shared. Serena also pointed out that she has a weighted ball and every other minute, she’ll do arm exercises with the ball while she’s using the elliptical. Dang!
The 41-year-old tennis player then moves on to the treadmill, where she walks on an incline at about a rate of 3.5 miles per hour. The OG hot girl walk, if you ask me! Serena ~also~ adds weights to the mix to tone her arms and go the extra mile. “I walk for a minute and then I do arm raises for a minute,” she says.
After all that, she did a series of squats, followed by leg lifts, noting that she likes to keep her legs strong. Also in the mix: fire hydrants. (I can feel the burn from here.) Serena wrapped things up with arm raises, adding, “I love to work my arms.”

Outside of strength training exercises, Serena loves a good walk. “Mostly it’s about cardio for me,” she continued. “I like to go outside and walk and just be in nature.”
As for her diet, Serena previously told Women’s Health that she tends to look at food as fuel. “My philosophy is eat to live. Don’t live to eat,” she says. “I want to have a healthy lifestyle and, so you know, [I’m eating] a lot of greens and mostly plant-based lately, just super healthy stuff.”
While the athlete is a healthy eater, she told Insider that she loves Moon Pies. “If Moon Pie sponsored me, I’d be bigger than any house on this planet! I love the originals: banana, chocolate, or vanilla,” she shared.
