Carrie Underwood Flashes Epic Legs As She Gets Matching Tattoos With Her Mom

  • Carrie Underwood just got a matching tattoo with her mom, and she took the occasion to show off her mega-toned legs in some new IG photos.

  • When it comes to her workouts, Carrie does some super intense strength training.
  • Carrie follows a structured diet but makes sure to include some wiggle room

Back in May, Carrie Underwood shared that she got tattoos with her sisters-in-law during a family trip to Florida. Now, she’s back with matching tattoos with her mom and sisters.

Over the holiday weekend, the 40-year-old singer revealed that she, her mom, and her sisters got matching heart tats—and that it was all her mom’s idea. “When your 74-year-old mother asks you and your sisters to get matching tattoos with her in Vegas, the only questions are, ‘what?’ and ‘where?,’” Carrie captioned a bunch of snaps of the tats. “I never would’ve thought I’d see the day that Mama Carole would be gettin’ some ink! 😂❤️ #WhatHappensInVegas.”

Carrie dropped a ton of BTS pics from the event, including shots of everyone’s tattoos together, and a pic of the Grammy Award winner flashing her toned legs as she got inked. (You can also peep Carrie’s mom smiling broadly as she got the tattoo on her inner wrist… So cute!)

Carrie ~just~ wrapped the most recent leg of her Vegas residency, and she is on a break until September, so she clearly wanted to start her time off with a bang. While her post was all about the tats, it’s hard to miss how super-toned she is right now. What’s she been up to? I’m glad you asked. Women’s Health has some insights for you.

For starters, Carrie definitely gets a really big cardio workout while she performs onstage. She shared a sneak peek of BTS dance rehearsals for her residency, and there are plenty of moves in the mix that’ll get your heart rate up.

But Carrie does more structured workouts, too—she’s worked with trainer Eve Overland for years, and the two even fit in workouts when she’s on tour. “Even though the touring life is high demand and schedules are crazy, we have a set routine and can guarantee that time together,” Overland previously told Women’s Health. “Carrie prioritizes her time to work out. That is her ‘me time’ to do something she truly enjoys and to start her day on a positive note.”

Together, they will do 90-minute sessions, which include things like squats, deadlifts, and lunges. “We progress, add challenge, and mix things up by changing the amount of weight used, reps, tempo, and equipment,” Overland said. BTW: Carrie has a mobile gym that features a leg press machine, TRX, stability ball, cables, and mini bands—and it looks super cool:

“Carrie is always up for a challenge,” Overland said. “She loves to push her body. She continues to grow by trying new things and practices until it is mastered. She is a machine.”

Carrie also told WH that Overland got her into lifting weights, and that she likes to create challenges for herself on the treadmill. “I have to set goals for myself: ‘Every 15 minutes I’m going to hit 1.25 miles, then by the end of an hour I’ll have run 5 miles,’ ” she said.

Carrie is dialed into fueling up properly for her workouts. In fact, she wrote a book about her diet and fitness plans called Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong With Fit52Life. Carrie explained to WH that her diet is structured, but still has a little wiggle room. “I love rules,” she said. “This is how I feel good about myself, and this is how I operate.”

So, she tracks her calories and macros on the app MyFitnessPal, with a goal of hitting 45 percent carbs, 30 percent fat, and 25 percent protein.

Breakfast is usually a tofu or egg-white scramble with Ezekiel toast, berries, and coffee. Lunch may be a sandwich with Tofurky, tomato, avocado, red onion, spinach, and mustard, followed by a green smoothie or protein bar for a snack. For dinner, she may have roasted vegetables and a piece of vegan chicken, or a tofu stir-fry.

Carrie shared that red wine is her “vice”—she likes to wind down with a glass or two while watching The Bachelor which, fair.

Carrie Underwood, everyone!
